We spent the last unofficial week of summer in Maine. We have visited a few times before but, this was our first trip with Jack in tow. Maine is one of my favorite places to visit because it emanates quintessential New England charm with its beautiful coastlines, fabulous seafood, and welcoming communities.

radish recs: golden door spa and resort

August 28, 2017 Miranda Hammer
IMG_1802.JPG.jpeg

This has been a busy summer for me filled with some amazing travel, fun work opportunities, and prepping for the incoming addition of #babyradish. I also had the incredible opportunity to attend the cooking school at the Golden Door Spa and Resort outside Escondido, California in early August for some personal development paired with some R and R. The few days that I spent at the Golden Door allowed me some major relaxation partnered with my favorite past time - cooking!

The Golden Door experience is completely tailored to each guest's needs, from dietary requests, spa treatments, and workouts - everyone's visit is 100% unique. The primary purpose of my stay was to improve upon my culinary skills and to learn new techniques around building flavor and texture using vegetable-forward ingredients without sacrificing the nutritional quality of the food. Although the main incentive of my visit was for the cooking school, that didn't mean that I couldn't indulge in all of the glory that the Golden Door has to offer.

Radish Recs: Nantucket

September 14, 2016 Miranda Hammer

Nantucket will forever be our special place, as I know it is for many people. When I first visited sixteen years ago, I was immediately awe struck by the magic and pure unadulterated beauty of the island. The unforgiving “New Englandness” of it all and its upscale Americanism that truly rain supreme. Our transcendent tour guides, Emily and Jack, were present throughout our brief little trip, and we are forever grateful to them for guiding us in the most perfect directions. We spent a little under three days on the Island but, as always, it was well fueled by fantastic and memorable eats. Here are my Radish Recs: Nantucket

August 18, 2015 Miranda Hammer

In celebration of my little g's 92nd birthday, my family and I descended upon Chicago. We had little more than 48 hours. Our mission: To eat the best we could and to see as many sites as possible. Mission status: Accomplished.

radish recs: morocco

July 24, 2015 Miranda Hammer

Morocco was an experience for all the senses. It was gritty and potent and sticky and flavorful - all tangled up in an adventurous holiday. We traveled to North Africa for one week in June and ate our way through Fes, Marrakesh, and the High Atlas Mountains. We started our journey toward Fes, stopping at the ancient Roman ruins of Volubulis, and then onto Moulay Idriss, the holiest Muslim site in Morocco before reaching our resting place of a few days in Fes.

Radish Recs: Miami

RADISH RECS MIAMI

Miami, a beach metropolis complete with sun, fun, and satisfying eats. This past weekend I had the opportunity to visit this city on the sea for the sixth time. I try and expand my Miami repertoire each visit by experiencing a new hotel and seeking out Radish-friendly eats and treats. I find myself flocking back to old faithful spots such as Joe's as well as uncovering new "go-to’s" like Jugo Fresh. Not all my eating adventures were hits, misses are unfortunately part of the process. As a health junkie, integrating exercise is always a critical component for me during my travels, and I always try to stay at a hotel with a strong wellness program or seek out fitness studios near-by. In typical Radish fashion, not every Radish Rec is super "crunchy", but I always strive for a balance of wellness and fun and do indulge, on occasion. Without further ado, here are my Radish-Approved, Radish Recs: Miami.

Radish Recs: Buenos Aires and Patagonia

February 18, 2015 Miranda Hammer

Our trip to Patagonia was epic, so epic and intense that it has taken me a good amount of time to fully absorb it all and feel able to recount the experience. First off our travel specialist, Beth Jenkins, did an incredible job curating our trip. She truly listened to what we wanted and created a true adventure with some surprises along the way.

Radish Recs: San Francisco

I could probably spend a month in San Francisco, negotiating whether to eat out for every meal or roam the farmers markets, nibbling my way through fresh produce and local delectables and still have  a laundry list of places I am burning to try. My frequent visits and need to get my crunchy fix has led me to curate my Radish Approved San Fran eats and treats!

Radish Recs: Wine Country

July 21, 2014 Miranda Hammer

A few weeks back, a close-knit crew of my nearest and dearest and I spent three wine-fueled days in Napa, California. We ate and drank and did it again and again...it was perfection. The picturesque landscape of wine country along with fresh and abundant seasonal cuisine, amazing wine, and lovely company made me a very happy little radish.

Although our trip was fleeting, we sampled some delicious food and had some exceptionally memorable experiences. Below is a Napa guide, in brief, highlighting some of the Radish Approved eats and treats.

Radish Recs: Tulum

July 21, 2014 Miranda Hammer

We recently had the opportunity to travel with friends to bohemian-esq Tulum. The trip was cathartic and tranquil. Although brief, we had the opportunity to eat incredibly fresh and flavorful food, take in some ruins, and revel in long and leisurely beach walks.

The list I am providing is by no means comprehensive, but just a simple reference of some tasty and healthy eats for travelers.
