A very happy Monday to you Vegheads. Holiday festivities are in full swing and practicing the art of moderation and balance never seemed more critical then it does now. The past few weeks have been inundated with festive meals, from birthday celebrations, to travel, and a multitude of holiday gatherings. Like most people, I am confronted with that inner dilemma, wanting to indulge and embrace all the deliciousness of the season, but knowing how indulgence after indulgence can affect me on the inside and out. There is nothing worse than feeling hung over from a few too many tequila sodas or so bloated that you can hardly manage to squeeze your contacts in. Keeping the ramifications of over-indulging in mind, I stay motivated to remain on track, especially when I take a detour or too. From bopping around the greenmarket to a decadent brunch at the Rainbow Room to bone broth and plenty of green juice fixes, this is what my weekend tasted like.
Popped off the weekend at Brodo, a window connected to Hearth restaurant in the East Village that is serving up various bone broths. My body and soul were warmed and nourished to the core with organic chicken broth with freshly grated turmeric and shiitake mushrooms. I will no doubt return soon for the most perfect way to warm up this winter.
While bopping around the Lower East Side, I could not resist a stop at Russ and Daughters for some latkes, matzo ball soup, wasabi roe, and other goodies.
Holiday shopping was made much more satisfying with this deliciousness from Hampton Chutney Co. My shopping buddy and I split the seasonal vegetable dosa with tomato chutney and avocado and the Thali special which had curried spaghetti squash, basmati rice, yogurt, cilantro chutney, and uttapam.
Loaded up on some winter roots following an early morning Refine Method.
Procured a plethora of natural beauty products from RMS, Tata Harper, and Ruhua at the Cap Beauty pop-up in the West Village. I can not wait for the store and spa to open in February.
Tapped out the weekend with a festively delicious and indulgent brunch at the Rainbow Room, located on the 65th floor of 30 Rock. My favorites included the poached egg station with truffles and a hot smoked salmon with mustardy fingerling potatoes.
I hope you had a tasty weekend. Wishing you a healthy and a happy holiday week!
