Morning rituals manifest different identities for every individual. Whether they consist of frantically running out the door to catch a train or having the pleasure of making French pressed coffee and steel cut oats, everyone has their ritual. Everybody has their story. These are my morning stories...
One of my all time favorite kitchen tools is my rice cooker, a gift that I received which has exceeded my expectations. Before early morning runs, I throw together oats, water, homemade hemp milk, maple syrup, cinnamon, and vanilla, and turn on the porridge setting. When I return from my run, I am greeted by the most perfect bowl of oats. For variations, I add diced apple, roasted pumpkin, or carrots.
Breakfast tacos are also one of my "go-to" post-workout refuels. I use farm fresh eggs, toasted sprouted corn tortillas, and add a quick sautéed green, sometimes mushrooms, and leftover black beans for a balanced protein-fueled breakfast.
For warmer days, I typically opt for a daily Siggis, overnight oats, chia pudding, or sprouted whole grain bread with nut butter and fruit. Toppings vary from hemp and chia seeds, to raw cacao nibs, and ground flax seeds.
What is your morning story?
