Peanut butter and bananas and avocado toast - two classic combos that don't really need an upgrade. But, if you are looking to step up your toast game, consider these variations on two delicious themes.
Gomasio is toasted sesame seeds with sea salt. You can find it in the spice and seasoning section of your grocery store or make it yourself. It is a welcome addition to this toast and is a fantastic garnish for many sweet and savory dishes.
banana peanut butter toast with gomasio
- 1 slice of your favorite gluten-free or whole grain bread
- 1 1/2 tablespoons salt-free, sugar-free crunchy peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon raw honey
- 1 small banana, sliced
- gomasio to garnish
Toast bread. Smooth peanut butter over toast, top with sliced bananas, drizzle with honey, and garnish with gomasio.
If you happen to be tried of basic avocado toast, step it up with peppery radish, creamy feta, and spicy chili flakes.
avocado toast with watermelon radish and feta
- 1 slice of your favorite gluten-free or whole grain bread
- 3 tablespoons avocado
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/8 teaspoon chili pepper flakes
- pinch of sea salt
- 1/2 of a watermelon radish, thinly sliced and quartered. Traditional radish works just as well.
- 1 tablespoon sheep's milk feta, crumbled
- Pea shoots for garnish
Toast your bread. Mash avocado onto the toast. Add lemon juice, salt, and chili flakes and mash gently into the avocado. Top with sliced radish and feta and garnish with pea shoots.
