meet the makers - hungryroot

May 19, 2015 Miranda Hammer

In an effort to help inspire and promote the most well rounded of lifestyles, Crunchy Radish is introducing a new series, Meet the Makers. Here we will highlight companies and people who are making strides in the health and wellness industry. First up, HungryRoot!

We all know that spiralized vegetables are a fantastic alternative to pasta and are also a great way to get in your veggies. What if you are in a pinch and do not want to settle on take-out? Maybe your spiralizer went rogue. Or your meal prep just didn't work out too well this week? Enter HungryRoot! A healthy meal delivery service that provides packaged, ready to cook vegetable noodles with perfectly paired sauces - package to mouth in 7 minutes flat.

HungyRoot was founded by Ben McKean, Greg Struck, and Top Chef Master, Franklin Becker, who happens to know a thing or two about gluten-free healthy cooking. (Becker is the mastermind behind the healthful and delicious restaurants The Little Beet and The Little Beet Table in New York City which dish up farm fresh fare).  These three gents are helping promote the food revolution of plant-based meals. Focusing on plant and vegetable forward thinking is essential for a nutritiously minded and balanced lifestyle. Craving the meat? No problem. HungryRoot has the option of adding in grilled chicken to any of the current six offerings. Choose from organic beet noodles with thai sesame sauce, organic carrot noodles with spicy peanut sauce, organic sweet potato with creamy cashew alfredo, organic turnip with walnut pesto, organic rutabaga with mushroom pistou, or, our personal favorite, organic celery root with sweet basil gremolata.

HungryRoot's ingredients are locally sourced and non-GMO, vegetables are 100% organic, and all meals are gluten-free. Currently they deliver east of the Mississippi, but hold tight West Coast, HungryRoot is coming for you soon!

Ditch the pasta and the take-out when you're in a pitch, and opt for farm fresh skillet to plate HungryRoot meals in 7 minutes.

In honor of our first Meet the Makers series, we teamed up with HungryRoot for an amazing giveaway. Be sure to check instragram to see how you can win 5 quick and nutritious meals from HungryRoot!
